A Gentlemen's Duel

I thought this digital short was well made and I got a kick out of it.  However, it is definitely not younger audience age appropriate.  There is some swearing and older humour.

I think one of my favorite parts was the break for tea...

Halloween 2010

So for Halloween this year, I decided to be a glam Medusa.  I think my favorite part of the whole outfit was my hair and the snakes....

Can you spot the cat?

Romeo, Romeo....

Traditionally, you hear the phrase "Romeo, Romeo, where fore art thou?"   Sometimes, this is followed up by "In the bushes.  Throw me some toilet paper....."

Driving to class from work the other day, I saw this license plate holder:

I thought it was funny and got a kick out of it. :)

3rd Times a Charm....Not

So we are all familiar with the phrase: "third times a charm,"  except not so much in my case.

I believe most of you know that around Christmas time, I had a very nasty sinus infection.  Upon arriving back in Provo a few days after Christmas, I saw a doctor and he gave me some antibiotics.  They kicked in and I felt better for about a month.

Then I got another sinus infection at the middle of March, but this time I was not able to get antibiotics quite as quickly.  I finally got some antibiotics at the beginning of April and it took six (6!!!) days for them to work because I had the infection for so long.  When they finally did though, HALLELUJAH!  The difference was like night and day.  I felt so much better... just in time for finals.

Next, the middle of May rolls around and with it, May brings me yet another sinus infection.  This is now my third sinus infection in five months and I have no past history of sinus infections.  I got in to see the doctor yet again to get some more antibiotics and to get a referral to see a specialist.  Though for some reason, he just gave me a referral for the specialist and not the prescription for antibiotics and walked out.  Jena actually ended up hooking me up with some antibiotics when I was out in Wisconsin for her medical school graduation (Congratulations again Jena!).

My appointment with the ENT specialist was on Monday, we took a CT scan, and he told me that the first sinus infection never actually went away.  Turns out my frontal sinus' are very congested, very thick and very full of mucous.  Not good.  So he tells me that we are going to treat this very aggressively, extends my antibiotic prescription for four more days (it was already at the customary 10 days), writes me a prescription for some Nasonex, and gives me stuff to do a saline rinse twice a day.  Hopefully all of this works and we can get my sinus' cleaned out because I really do not want any more sinus infections (plus then, I would get labeled as having chronic sinus infections).

So you see, sometimes the third time is not a charm.

Team Kits

Our team kits finally came in!  We have waited a few months now for our team race kits to come and they finally have!

A few months ago, I joined a bike racing team at my local bike shop here and we all paid for our kits then. They just barely got here as the suppliers were all backed up.  Races started back in April but because of work schedules moving around, finishing school, being out of town, etc... I have yet to be able to do one race.  However, when I make it back into town after my trip to Great Britain, I will have time to start racing and I am so excited!  I am going to do both mountain and road races and it will be fun.  I do the races for fun and because I like to bike, just like I did that century back in September because I wanted to.

However, because of how crazy things have been, I have not really been able to ride my bike(s) lately at all and I am looking forward to getting back into the saddle again!

Random Bumper Stickers

So my local bike shop put on a ladies night tonight at their Orem location.  During the process of driving home afterwards, I saw the following two bumper stickers:

       and

I only comment on this because this is not something you usually see plastered to a car, especially in Utah...  Plus I have always been under the impression that those who lean more towards the pagan side of things don't necessarily broadcast it but keep it more under wraps.  But I could be wrong.  I am by no means an authority on pagan religions and their do's and don'ts.

Then I saw this bumper sticker:

I find it funny because it is completely random.  I know that Robert Jordan has a huge following (I am actually attempting to reread the Wheel of Time series right now... attempting because I am in school full-time and working full-time and as a result, do not have a lot of free time so it is going very slowly...) but you don't usually see a lot of Wheel of Time paraphernalia out there unless you are at a convention, book signing, or something....  Again, I could be totally wrong here.  I am not an authority on Robert Jordan and the Wheel of Time either.

Another reason, I find this interesting is because of two other recent events concerning this series.  First, at the beginning of February, I went up to Rexburg to visit people and one of the guys that I gave a ride up there was reading this series and we ending up talking about it for a bit.  Second, sometime in January, I was in the bookstore on campus looking at the most recent release for this series (i.e. reading the flap, etc...) when two guys come up to me and we end up talking about the series and about the co-author.  Random.  And I find it interesting because I know exactly what the bumper sticker is referring to.
